Cutting East film festival

The Cutting East Film Festival is a unique, youth-led event that empowers young people to come together and design, curate, and deliver their very own film festival. It’s all about giving them ownership — creating something that reflects their voices, interests, and creativity.

In 2023, the festival returned in collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council and Mile End Community Project (MCP), helping to take it to the next level. The project also received incredible support from Phakama and Genesis Cinema, who brought their resources and expertise to the table.

MCP previously delivered the festival in 2014 and 2015, and it’s been amazing to see it come full circle — growing in impact and ambition with each edition
